SOTM Entry

A comment from our judge...

It does my heart good to see the clever references... SOTM - Straight on till morning, the second star to the right... I can see it just off in the distance... the rocketship SOTM is a character unto itself. What a wonderful way to portray a theme in an unusual way - but stay true to exploration, and space art. The uniqueness but attention to theme work very well together to earn "SOTM Entry" the 'Most Original' prize.

"SOTM Entry" shows a spacecraft venturing "straight on until morning" against a background in which the "second star to the right" is the most prominent element.

I made all the objects in this picture. The spaceship, inspired by the pulp illustrations of the 1950's, was created in Amapi 7.  I created the spacescape background in PSP 9 with the UIC plugins. The jet exhaust was added when the scene was rendered in Carrara 4 Pro.
